Bojagui workshop with Maryse Allard to learn curves and more elaborate designs.

Pojagi is a traditional Korean fabric joining technique, used to create textile pieces such as blankets, curtains, bags and garments. The technique dates back several centuries and was once used to make functional objects for everyday life. Pojagi is characterized by the use of invisible seams to join lightweight textile pieces, creating interesting geometric patterns and visual effects of transparency. The stitching is done by hand, creating unique, personalized pieces. The fabrics used for Pojagi are often light, transparent fabrics such as silk, cotton or linen. Colors and patterns can vary considerably, from neutral tones to bold, vivid colors. Pojagi is a technique that requires patience and precision, but also offers great satisfaction when you see the final result. Pieces created with this technique are not only beautiful, but also durable and functional. Today, Pojagi has become a popular art form worldwide, with contemporary artists taking up this traditional technique to create innovative, modern works.

Maryse Allard is a Pojagui specialist who has had the opportunity to exhibit her work in Korea and many other countries around the world. Although she is deeply attached to her European roots and her interest in Art Deco, she also sees herself as a bridge between Korean and French cultures. Beyond her exhibitions, Maryse takes pleasure in sharing her passion for Pojagi through workshops organized around the globe, either face-to-face or online. Each session is a magical moment in which the transparency and lightness of Pojagi are brought to the fore.

Our beginners' Pojagi course is specially designed for those wishing to learn this traditional Korean fabric assembly technique.

The course will focus on the creation of a work with straight joints. The techniques will be explained in detail, step by step, so that each participant can follow and learn at his or her own pace.

The final objective will be to create a hanging of approximately 50 cm square. Maryse will share her knowledge and passion for Pojagui with you, guiding you through the various stages of creating your own hanging.

The kit needed for this course will be provided, but you can also bring your own fabrics if you wish. The course will take place over a full day, to enable everyone to master the techniques and complete their work.
