Shibori originated in Japan in the 8th century. Originally, the most commonly used textile fibers were hemp and silk, followed by cotton. The main dye used was indigo, but other existing natural dyes (beetroot, madder, etc.) were sometimes also used. Shibori techniques are infinitely varied. Originally developed as a practical method for repairing and strengthening fabrics, sashiko has evolved into a refined decorative technique, now celebrated throughout Japan in many regional styles. A 2-day workshop to create a string or band of houses using appliquéd Japanese fabrics. Different methods will be used, as well as embellishment embroidery. This highly creative and fun project will inspire you to continue, as the results are always astonishing and delightful.
