Consider fabrics such as yarn dyed, tsumugi, yukata, shibori dyed, kasuri fabrics including worn out fabrics to give them new life. There really is no limit but consider the thickness of the fabrics as you will be stitching through a few layers, looser weave fabrics work the best.
